‘Surprised’… Pundit says he’s shocked by how little Erik Ten Hag has used £37m Man Utd player

Amad Diallo wrote his name into Manchester United folklore on Sunday.

His late winner against Liverpool will go down as one of the all-time great Old Trafford moments, and now, the Ivorian will hopefully be able to kick on and make a real name for himself at Manchester United.

Indeed, while Diallo made himself something of a hero on Sunday, he’s not played all that much this season.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Leroy Rosenior has been discussing Diallo’s lack of minutes and his recent performances, and he says that he’s surprised that he hasn’t played more football for United this season.

Amad Diallo should play more

Rosenior spoke about the young winger.

“Yeah and do you know what, Diallo has been playing well. He played well last season for Sunderland, I was surprised he hasn’t had more minutes. Maybe you should take a leaf out of Liverpool’s book with what Klopp has done with these young players with Bradley and Quansah,” Rosenior said.

Deserves a chance

Rosenior is spot on, Diallo should’ve played more for United this season.

Let’s be real, the Red Devils haven’t been brilliant this season, particularly on the flanks, and the fact that Diallo has barely had a sniff in a team that is struggling so much, is bemusing.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have found form lately, yes, but there have been times this season when both players have been poor, and during those moments, Diallo should’ve had his shot.

After his goal at the weekend, Diallo should be in line for more opportunities at United, and hopefully, an extended run of minutes in this team will allow the attacker to show what he’s all about.

There’s a reason United paid £37m to sign Diallo a few years ago, and now, he needs a chance to show why he’s worth that sort of money.
