According to Sky Sports, AC Milan are lining up a bid to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira on loan, with a view to a permanent switch. The Italian club are expected to make their offer in the coming days. The report states that the Serie A outfit will offer £4.5 million to take the Uruguayan on loan for two years, with a £25 million permanent purchase option.
The report further states that Torreira would be keen to work with Marco Giampaolo again. The Italian manager coached Torreira at Sampdoria, and has recently taken the reigns at the San Siro.
However, Torreira is tied down to a long contract at the Emirates Stadium, and was a central figure in Unai Emery’s side last season. Frankly, the Gunners would be crazy to let the 23-year-old leave, especially on loan and for such a meagre fee.
The 18-cap Uruguay international was one of Arsenal’s best and most exciting players last season. His fight, tenacity and defensive awareness had a transformative effect on the Gunners’ midfield. Considering it was Torreira’s first campaign in English football, the form he produced was hugely impressive.

Emery should now be plotting a way to build his side around Torreira, rather than entertaining derisory bids to prise him away from north London.
Many Arsenal fans agree that letting Torreira leave would be a mistake. Plenty of the Emirates Stadium faithful took to Twitter to share their views on the matter.
