Rangers have been continuously linked with players from down south and another previous target is the centre of a heated race – and Steven Gerrard simply has to reignite reported January 2018 interest in him.
TeamTalk claim newly-promoted duo Norwich City and Sheffield United are interested in Rotherham United captain Will Vaulks, as are Derby County, Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday.
The 25-year-old shone for Rotherham this season. Despite the club getting relegated to League One, Vaulks managed to find the back of the net eight times and lay on seven assists.
A two-time Wales international, midfield general Vaulks has just 12 months remaining on his contract at the New York Stadium. The relegation to League One is likely to convince Vaulks that it is time to leave.

Rangers were linked with a move for the maestro back in January 2018, with the Daily Mail claiming he was a £500,000 target for both The Gers and Neil Warnock’s Cardiff. It appears that Cardiff have remained admirers.
Gerrard has options in the middle of the park, but no one you expect to receive the ball from deep and look to take on an opponent. Glen Kamara and Ryan Jack are tidy players, but they are known for their passing.
Vaulks, on the other hand, is known for his leadership and ability to drive his team forward. Chipping in with a few goals here and there, the midfielder is an excellent addition.
If the report is to be believed, the fact that both Norwich and Sheffield United are interested suggests that they are confident he can make the step from Championship to Premier League.
But Rangers cannot let them sign the former Falkirk player without a fight. He could be just what Rangers are missing in their bid to finally stop Celtic’s pursuit of 10 in a row.
