Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino made an interesting call in the Champions League this week.
The Argentine coach opted to field Kieran Trippier for Wednesday’s clash with PSV Eindhoven in Holland, which was the Englishman’s second appearance of the season in the competition.

Against Internazionale Serge Aurier started, leaving Trippier to start the succeeding Premier League game against Brighton.
Perhaps Pochettino is ready to hand the Ivorian a starting berth against the Premier League champions on Monday – and if Leroy Sane is starting wide on the left, it could be a recipe for disaster, or the making or Aurier in a Tottenham shirt.
Aurier vs Sane would be a massive risk
Admittedly Aurier appears to have turned over a new leaf this season and has done pretty well defensively when handed the opportunity to play.
But there is still a chance against blistering pace – something Sane – is famed for, that he could be forced into a mistake.
Trippier has been playing a lot of games lately, and Aurier is fresh which could tempt Pochettino.

After a difficult start to the new season, Sane appears to be back to his usual high standards and has started four out of the last five league games.
The German winger was an unused substitute against Shakhtar Donetsk and is like to come in at the weekend as a fresh pair of legs for Pep Guardiola.
If he is greeted out on the left wing by Aurier and not Trippier, he will surely fancy his chances more.
