Rangers winger Glenn Middleton continued his fine form for the U20s by scoring a brace in the Glasgow Cup final against Celtic.
The Scot first fired in low drive, and then followed it up with an absolute scorcher from 30 yards in off the crossbar.
The Light Blues lost the game 3-2 having come back from 2-0 down, but Middleton’s stock has risen further.
It’s been a tough 2019 for the 19-year-old, who has been playing most of his football in the youth setup.

Middleton was promoted to the first-team by Steven Gerrard for 2018/19 and he had made some decent contributions in the first half of the season.
However since the turn of the calendar year he has only made three appearances, with Gerrard seemingly protecting him.
TBR’s view
Middleton’s two goals against Celtic were of the highest quality and the teenager is now in sizzling form as the season draws to a close.
Surely Gerrard must consider handing him some first-team starts after returning him to the bench against Aberdeen last weekend.
Rangers have only a handful of games left to play before the season is out and second place is virtually assured.

With Ryan Kent’s permanent future at the club far from guaranteed, it could be in Gerrard’s best interests to get Middleton some more Premiership game time ahead of 2019/2020 just to refamiliarise him with the nature of the league.
Middleton is a great talent, and could be the man to take over Kent’s mantle next term.
