Surely Celtic are the ones who should be fearful of in-form Salzburg

Red Bull Salzburg manager Marco Rose has expressed his concerns about facing Scottish champions Celtic, but surely the Hoops are the ones who should be more fearful going into Thursday’s Europa League game.

Brendan Rodgers side have made a sluggish start to the 2018/19 season.

They currently sit fifth in the Premiership table and are six points adrift of leaders Hearts.

The Bhoys appear to be lacking the creativity and prolificacy at the moment that has seen them become Treble Treble winners.

Rodgers’ side won their opening Europe League group stage match and would love to follow that up with victory at the Red Bull Arena.

But their opponents must not be underestimated.

The Salzburg steamroller

The Austrian outfit are wary of Celtic, but they have begun the 2018/19 season in fine fettle.

Salzburg sit top of the Austrian Bundesliga by seven points and have won every single game.

Not only that, but they have plundered 24 goals – an average of 2.6 per game.

What’s more, they have also proven reasonably impenetrable, conceding just seven.

Rose’s side were also victorious in their opening Europe League fixture, beating RB Leipzig 3-2.

They’re a good side, as evidenced by their impressive run to the competition’s semi-final stage last season, where they narrowly lost to Marseille over two legs.

It’s mind games from Rose, who knows his side are playing excellent football.

Celtic must try and settle into the game as quickly as possible and not allow Salzburg the lion’s share of possession.
