New Arsenal signing Fabio Vieira has given the club’s fan an update on the injury he has been carrying since he arrived at the club.

Vieira’s attempts to get into pre-season training and matches with the Gunners have been held back by a foot problem.

But in an interview with the Athletic, Vieira said that it is only a minor issue he picked up on international duty.

And he expects to be over it soon, and able to take part in full first-team training within a matter of days.

Fabio Vieira injury update

“It’s a small injury I got with the national team one month ago,” he said.

“Now I feel really good.

“I’m not training 100 per cent yet, but I’m running. Day after day, I’m improving.

“And in a few days, I’ll be back in full training with my team-mates.”

Pre-season is important for all players, but especially new signings who are coming to a different country and trying to adjust.

Vieira has not been able to get on and hit the ground running but it seems like he is confident he will be able to start that process soon.

Getting him into pre-season friendlies is the start, and then it is to be hoped that he is ready to take the Premier League by storm next month.
