'Super player': David Moyes thinks 20-year-old Tottenham reportedly want to sign could be amazing
Gvardiol has been part of the Croatia backline which has got through to the World Cup quarter-finals, where they face Brazil tomorrow.
Keeping Tite’s men quiet is arguably the most daunting task any side remaining in the tournament will have to face in the coming days.
But in the Times, Moyes said he likes what he has seen from the 20-year-old RB Leipzig defender and has tipped him for a Premier League move.
Moyes on Gvardiol
He wrote: “I picked out Gvardiol, 20, as one of the talents to watch at this tournament and he really is going to be a super player.
“He was Croatia’s left back at Euro 2020 but is probably going to play most of his career at left centre back, where we’re seeing him here.
“He came through the Red Bull system and they excel at picking out new talents from eastern Europe.
“I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t come to the Premier League in the next couple of years.”
Fabrizio Romano has said that Tottenham are trying to sign the defender as they look for a longer term solution on the left of their back three.
The big issue is how much he will cost, with competition from across Europe and now he has boosted his profile even further at the World Cup.
Croatia will be underdogs against Brazil but they relished that tag in 2018 when they made the World Cup final and should not be underestimated.
