Super Mario on Everton's radar?

Everton are trailing Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic. According to the Mirror Football, the Toffees could land him for a bargain of £7million.

The Croatian striker, one of the stars of Euro 2012 so far with his three goals in two games, could be paired with international team mate Nikica Jelavic at Goodison Park.

Mandzukic is on the radar of other Premier League sides too. His affordable price makes him an attractive transfer option this summer, and his performances so far this tournament will have only increased this interest.

The 26-year-old was signed by Wolfsburg’s then-coach Steve McClaren  for £6million and has two years left on his contract.

Apparently, Everton’s interest in him began two years ago, when he played for Dinamo Zagreb, and have been watching the striker during the Euros.

His partnership with Jelavic at international level is thriving and could be rekindled on Merseyside.

Since joining Everton in January,  Nikica Jelavic has been a huge success, scoring 9 goals in 13 appearances. If Mandzukic hits the net at the same rate as his fellow countryman, then he’d be an incredible signing for the Merseyside club.

I’m excited to see how this story progresses, however it’s unlikely any formal interest will be made until after the competition.
