Sunderland are currently on a horrid run of form as new manager Phil Parkinson has failed to have the desired impact at the Stadium of Light since replacing Jack Ross.
Sunderland have not won in their last six fixtures and have dropped to 11th in League One as a result. For the second season in a row, Sunderland look like having to battle hard to win back their Championship status.
However, a player who was helping them to a promotion battle last season is finally finding his best form, nearly one year after leaving the Stadium of Light.
As reported by the Daily Mail, French side Bordeaux paid £3.5 million to sign Josh Maja from Sunderland in January.
His contract was due to expire and, despite his 16 goals in the first half of last season, Sunderland decided it was not worth the risk of losing him for free in the summer and decided to sell him on.

Maja is now in fine form for Bordeaux and last night had his best night yet for the French side. The 20-year-old scored his first hat-trick for the Ligue 1 side, as they thrashed Nimes 6-0 at the Matmut Atlantique.
It takes his tally for the season to six goals in 15 games and he is looking like living up to the expectations many at the French side, and on Wearside, always had for the striking sensation.
Sunderland fans will surely wonder if Maja might have been able to fire the club to promotion last season.
