Sunderland supporters criticise McGeady’s performance in home draw with Blackpool

Sunderland dropped two points in the race to gain automatic promotion out of League One last night with a 1-1 draw against Blackpool.

Jack Baldwin grabbed a point for the Black Cats with a second half strike, but the performance as a whole didn’t quite come together on the night.

Will Grigg toiled slightly up front on his home debut and missed an absolute sitter when put through one against one in that second period, but it was a disjointed display on the whole.

One man who wasn’t at his best was Aiden McGeady; who looked tired and short on ideas in a side that struggled to break down Blackpool.

This Sunderland side hasn’t scored more than once in a game since December 15th and the onus falls on players such as McGeady to pick the lock and improve that record in the coming months.

The supporters were not shy in taking to Twitter to criticise the Irishman’s performance and the feeling persists that he could be doing more to propel this Sunderland side back into the second tier.
