Leeds United are closing in on a deal for Chelsea youngster Izzy Brown. It is a deal that will no doubt make Tyler Roberts’ life hard at Elland Road. The Welshman, who received his first senior call-up for Ryan Giggs’ side this week, has had it tough since joining Leeds. A broken foot ruled him out for the second half of last season and he is now on the periphery of the first-team at Leeds.
Which should no doubt alert Sunderland.
Last summer the Black Cats were looking for more firepower in their attacking ranks and Roberts became a target. With his contract coming to an end at West Brom, The Sun reported (print edition; 10/09/2017, pg 58) that Sunderland were keen on signing the player permanently after his loan spell at Walsall came to an end.

That never happened, with Roberts joining Leeds in a £2.5 million deal in January.
But with Roberts now likely to be pushed aside by the arrival of Brown, Sunderland should consider a late swoop for their former target.
Sunderland need striking reinforcements and Roberts is the perfect recruit considering his versatility across the frontline. Leeds would also welcome the move, as it would give the 19-year-old an opportunity of first-team football in what is looking like a promotion push.
Sunderland need another forward and Roberts could be the perfect addition this week.
