Sunderland are on the charge back towards the Championship and that would represent the first step in the right direction.
The Black Cats were relegated to League One last season to make it back-to-back relegation campaigns.
Jack Ross has come into the club and overseen a mini-revival though and automatic promotion is in their hands.
They are currently sitting two points behind Barnsley with a game in hand.
Last week Ross saw his side lost 5-4 to Coventry City in a bizarre game of football. They must try and get back on track during the Easter period, starting with tomorrow’s home game with Doncaster Rovers.
Lee Cattermole hasn’t played since Sunderland were beaten in the Football League Trophy final against Portsmouth. He was on the bench last Saturday but remained unused.
The influential performer simply has to be restored to the starting line-up for the Doncaster game.
Cattermole’s drive and energy in the middle of the park has been a vital asset towards Sunderland’s good season. Certainly, late on in the game against Coventry, the team missed his experience.
At 31, the wise old head still has a big part to play. Cattermole’s legs are still there and last week’s defeat proved him to be one of the club’s most important players still.
With the squad at the Stadium of Light relatively young, Ross can lean on all of Cattermole’s experience to guide the team towards the finishing line.
