Sunderland fans send message to Celtic player on Twitter

Lewis Morgan has sent a heartfelt message to Sunderland fans on Twitter after his loan spell expired and he has since returned to parent club Celtic – and Sunderland supporters have reacted.

Morgan, 22, joined Celtic in the summer after previously signing for the Scottish champions and going back on loan to former club St. Mirren. He made 13 appearances during the first half of the season.

But in January he moved on loan to Sunderland, and clocked up 22 appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats in their hunt for play-off promotion. He scored two goals and created four more.

He posted on Twitter after his loan spell came to an end – thanking Sunderland the League One club’s fans for their backing, but also ruling out a permanent move to the Stadium of Light.

Morgan has an almighty task of getting into Neil Lennon’s side. The likes of Scott Sinclair and James Forrest remain first choice, while Mikey Johnstone has impressed. Maryan Shved is also likely to be above Morgan in the rankings.

Sunderland fans reacted to Morgan’s Tweet, with many urging him to come back to Sunderland. One fan replied to Morgan’s post, saying “I really wished we signed you”.
