Sunderland have confirmed on their official website that they have signed defender Bailey Wright on loan from Bristol City until the end of the season.
Wright is out of contract at the end of the summer and has decided to drop down from the Championship to get games.
He said: “I’m delighted to be here and I’m looking forward to getting to work.
“I’ve played League One football before and I’ve been promoted, so I understand the qualities required to succeed at this level. I’ve had a few chats with the manager, and I want to be a part of what he’s building.”

There were no shortage of Sunderland fans on Twitter reacting to the news and there was a feeling of excitement about the signing of a player with experience of playing higher.
Some supporters had complained it was a loan during a window in which money is supposedly available to spend.
But Wright’s contract situation means that there’s not much financial sense in buying him now, when he looks set to be available for free in the summer, by which time Sunderland will hope to be a Championship club again.
