Sunderland drew 1-1 at Scunthorpe United yesterday as they again struggled to find a win. The Black Cats have now drawn more games, 11, than any other team in the league this season.
Such recent form has seen the likes of Charlton Athletic and Barnsley catch up with Sunderland whilst Luton Town and Portsmouth remain out in front, despite the latter’s recent dip.
There were plenty of good and bad performances from Sunderland yesterday. However, the one many were most keen to observe was that of Jimmy Dunne.

Sunderland snapped up the Burnley centre-back on loan last week after he spent an impressive first half of the season on loan at Scottish side Hearts.
Based on this display, Sunderland made a good choice.
Coming in for Jack Baldwin, who had been suffering from illness this week, the imperious-looking Dunne put in a decent display.
The central defender cuts an imposing figure on the pitch and was brilliant in aerial duels and not afraid to get stuck into a tackle. It is fair to say he is something of a throwback central defender.
Overall, it was a decent debut for the player and most Sunderland fans will be pleased by what they saw.
Hopefully, he can help them shut out opponents going forward and turn some of these draws into wins…
