Sunderland fans react to Lee Connelly’s hat-trick against Spennymoor Town
Lee Connelly recently played in the FA Cup.
Sunderland striker Lee Connelly scored a hat-trick in a friendly match against Spennymoor Town.
Connelly led the line, scoring three goals in the 5-0 win at Spennymoor on Tuesday night. On the same evening, former Sunderland striker Josh Maja also netted a hat-trick for Bordeaux in Ligue 1.
Meanwhile, Will Grigg continues to lead the line for Sunderland. Plenty of fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with the Northern Ireland striker, who has one league goal all season.
Connelly to replace Grigg?

Sunderland have other options in the attack but Charlie Wyke is still recovering from an injury. Duncan Watmore and teenager Benji Kimpioka are two other options up top.
But some Sunderland fans have discussed the possibility of a promotion for Connelly. So far, the 20-year-old has played five times for Sunderland’s first-team and he was recently a late substitute in the FA Cup loss against Gillingham.
Connelly has not played in the league yet but some fans think he ‘won’t be any worse’ than Grigg. After his hat-trick, here are some Sunderland fans reacting to the Scottish striker’s display.
He won’t be any worse than who does start Saturday.
