Sunderland fans react to Joel Lynch’s impressive league debut

Sunderland snapped up the talented defender on a free transfer.

Sunderland moved into fifth place in League One this weekend with a 2-1 win over MK Dons at the Stadium of Light. It was a game of two halves from the Black Cats, as they dominated the first period before struggling to maintain their momentum in the second.

Goals from Max Power and the exceptional Luke O’Nien earned Sunderland all three points, despite George Williams’ second-half finish.

But whilst the two goalscorers deserve plenty of the praise, Sunderland fans were more impressed with a man making his league debut.

He put in a solid display that followed up a strong debut for the Black Cats against Sheffield United in EFL Cup action this week.

Undoubtedly, he started to look tired toward the end, but the 31-year-old added strength to the Sunderland defence they have perhaps been lacking at times this season.

The free-agent recruit is looking like being a good addition to the Sunderland team as they push for promotion this season.

Plenty of fans now want to see much more of Lynch going forward. Here is some of the best Sunderland reaction from Twitter…
