Sunderland fans react as Laurens De Bock shines on debut

Sunderland are through to the next round of the EFL Cup after securing yet another win against Premier League opposition. Following on from their victory over Burnley in the last round, the Black Cats picked up an impressive 1-0 win against Sheffield United. 

Max Power was the goalscoring hero, with hos early strike proving enough for Sunderland to book a meeting with Oxford United in the next round. 

But it was the team’s defensive performance that really stood out, especially from one of their new recruits. 

Leeds United fans might be shocked to hear that Laurens De Bock had a sublime debut for Sunderland.

The Belgian, signed on loan from Elland Road after being cast aside by Marcelo Bielsa, has been working on his fitness up until now and this as his first appearance for his new club. 

Undoubtedly, it went well, as he put in a fine defensive performance the likes of which Leeds fans rarely saw in West Yorkshire. 

Hopefully, for Sunderland, this is just a sign of things to come from their loanee as he seemed to add real steel to the side defensively.
