Sunderland may still have two games left of their season. However, it appears one of their brightest talents will be playing no part. Bali Mumba sent out this message on Twitter yesterday, suggesting his season has ended with the under-23s.

It certainly ends an interesting campaign for the 17-year-old midfielder. He started the season in the Sunderland starting XI. He played the full 90 minutes as a 16-year-old as Sunderland defeated Charlton Athletic on the opening day. He went on to play the next two Championship games before finding himself back on the fringes.
Of course, that is perfectly fine for a player of his age. At just 17, Sunderland have long-term plans for the kid. He clearly does as well. Mumba signed a new deal until 2021 back in November.
Sunderland fans were glad to get a glimpse of the talented midfielder who clearly has a bright future at the Stadium of Light.
But they might have expected to see a little more of him than they have recently.
Mumba has not featured for Sunderland’s first-team since November and is clearly back in the youth set-up for the time being.
However, fans undoubtedly believe he will be back in the Sunderland first-team set-up in no time at all. Hopefully, that will be as a Championship club next season.
You are a credit to yourself, The AOL & SAFC. Keep working hard, remain patient & your time will come. You have a huge future ahead young man 🔴⚪🔴

Can’t rush things, see you sooner rather than later. I possibly think you might get loaned out next year just to give you that further development. If you do I’m sure it’ll be with a view to you coming back. Good things come to those who wait.
