Sunderland midfielder Aiden McGeady has come under fire for his latest performance.
McGeady played as Sunderland crashed out of the EFL Cup against Oxford United. Having beaten Premier League opposition to get to the fourth round, Sunderland lost to League One rivals Oxford and missed the quarter-final chance.
The game finished 1-1 as Marc McNulty cancelled out Rob Hall’s opener. When the game went to penalties, Oxford buried all of their spot-kicks while Sunderland missed two. McNulty missed the crucial one after Will Grigg had fired miles over the bar.

Sunderland fans took to Twitter after the game and they had strong words for a number of players. This includes McGeady – who has not hit the heights of last season.
The Irish winger has scored four goals in 13 games last season and has not been able to replicate his form of 2018/19. McGeady led the promotion charge last season but has struggled this term.
Sunderland fans are getting frustrated with the 33-year-old. Here are some tweets discussing McGeady’s performance against the U’s.
