Sunderland are still within striking distance of the League One play-off places after last night’s battling 0-0 draw against Barnsley at Oakwell.
But while Jack Ross’ side have ten games to make up the ground, the manager announced after last night’s game to the club’s official website that winger Duncan Watmore looks set to miss the remainder of the season after yet another injury setback.
Ross said: “The likelihood is that Duncan will miss the rest of the season. It’s incredibly disappointing for him because of what he has been through.
“The positive thing is that it’s nothing to do with his knee. His knee is in great shape and has been for a while now. I was disappointed with the tackle and you can see the outcome of that because he is looking at eight to 12 weeks out.”

Watmore deserves a slice of luck after the awful knee injuries he has had and the Sunderland supporters are gutted for him – understandably so.
They will hope that he can come back stronger than ever – in the Championship, if possible – and we’ve put together some of their best wishes for the Englishman…
