A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been giving their thoughts on the Spurs announcement regarding Steven Bergwijn winning February’s Goal of the Month award (official Tottenham website).
The 22-year-old joined Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham on 29 January from PSV Eindhoven for a reported £27million fee (BBC Sport) on a contract until the summer of 2025.
Bergwijn’s Spurs debut came on 2 February against Manchester City and it could hardly have gone any better as he opened the scoring for his new side with a stunning volley en route to a 2-0 win.
Tottenham announced that the Dutchman’s goal took 42 percent of votes in the club’s Goal of the Month competition, ahead of Son Heung-min’s stoppage time winner over Aston Villa, which claimed 35 percent of the votes.
Bergwijn has made four Tottenham appearances to date and, while he hasn’t added to his goal against Manchester City, his overall game has been very impressive, which bodes well for his future – particularly in the wake of the club’s crisis up front.
Here is what some Spurs fans on social media made of Bergwijn winning the accolade:
