Janusz Michallik believes that Tottenham Hotspur have a player who actually makes the impossible seem possible in James Maddison.

Michallik was speaking on ESPN as he named the Spurs vice-captain in his ideal midfield three made of up of those currently impressing in the Premier League.

Tottenham losing James Maddison to injury for the rest of the calendar year was a massive blow. The 26-year-old had been electric following his move to the club in the summer transfer window.

James Maddison makes the impossible look possible at Tottenham

There is an argument that Maddison has been the best player in the Premier League this season. And it is not exactly a surprise that Spurs have lost their last three games, with the England international coming off during the first of those.

Certainly, Michallik did not hesitate to put Maddison in his dream midfield three right now. And he shared how impressed he has been by the former Leicester City man.

“I think James Maddison is such a clever player. I almost think he’s one of those players that loves to thread that pass more than even scoring goals. He makes impossible situations look actually possible. A perfect fit, as he’s shown,” he told ESPN.

Spurs getting by without their new talisman

Maddison has certainly vindicated Ange Postecoglou’s decision to make him the co-vice-captain in the summer.

However, you have to say that while Tottenham have missed Maddison, they have still managed to take the game to opponents.

Spurs have led in each of their last three games. And they had the opportunities to completely put the game to bed against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The final pass was off at times. And that may be where they particularly missed Maddison. But on another day, Emi Martinez could have been picking the ball out of his net several times in that first-half.

Nevertheless, there is absolutely no doubt that the sooner Maddison is back, the better for Tottenham.
