'Stylish, eye-catching display', 'outstanding': Manchester City-linked attacker wows his nation's media
Manchester City are reportedly eyeing Jack Grealish, who shone for England at Euro 2020 on Tuesday.
Likewise, the 25-year-old is apparently open to joining the Premier League champions.
According to The Mirror, Grealish is valued at £100million.
Grealish came through the ranks at Villa to help steer his boyhood club back to the Premier League.
Villa retained their top-flight status in 2019-20 and kicked on in 2020-21, finishing 11th in the table.
Grealish has had a huge say in the claret and blue side’s rise from the Championship back to the Premier League.
Gareth Southgate named Grealish in his squad for Euro 2020 and got his first start against Czech Republic.
“Justified the clamour”
The attacking ace delivered an impressive display which earned praise from the English press and fans alike.
“Created Sterling’s goal with a lovely cross and troubled Coufal,” wrote The Guardian, who gave Grealish 8 out of 10.
“Must press defenders harder, though.”
The Telegraph gave him 7 out of 10 and wrote: “Roar when he first touched the ball, jeers when taken off.
“Showed why fans are excited, setting up Sterling’s goal and going on mazy runs. Drew fouls.”
The Evening Standard gave Grealish 8 out of 10 and wrote: “Justified the clamour with a stylish, eye-catching display.
“Made the breakthrough by standing up a great cross for Sterling to head home and linked well with his teammates.
“His substitution was booed, which tells you plenty about his display.”
Likewise, the Manchester Evening News gave him 8 out of 10.
“Produced the outstanding moment of the match that saw England score the only goal of the game,” they wrote.
“A start in the last-16 surely beckons.”
Manchester City would be landing a star – TBR View
Grealish is a player of the highest calibre who looks destined for a move to one of England’s top clubs.
Admittedly it’ll be difficult for City to land him, as he is Villa through and through.
You’ve also got to consider that the Villans are on the up and he’s got a long-term contract.
However, if any club could offer anything close to a guarantee for silverware, it’s City.
