‘Stunning performance’: Tottenham fans laud Toby Alderweireld performance against Brighton

Tottenham finally got themselves a home Premier League win last night with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brighton.

Spurs made a whole host of changes from the side that was embarrassed in Antwerp in midweek and took the lead early on, as Harry Kane slotted in a penalty to continue his fine run of form.

However, the impressive Tariq Lamptey equalised for Brighton in controversial fashion, before substitute Gareth Bale got his first goal since returning to north London to win the game for Spurs.

It wasn’t the best performance in the world from Mourinho’s men but they did enough to get the job done, with a few experienced players helping them over the line in the end.

One player who did impress was Toby Alderweireld, who appears back to his very best this season.

Spurs fans, then, were all over Twitter singing the praises of the Belgian, with superlatives such as ‘unreal’, ‘stunning’, and ‘brilliant’ all used to describe Alderweireld’s display.
