Tammy Abraham completed 90 minutes in the defeat to Millwall on Saturday – and some Aston Villa fans on Twitter praised him for the quality of his performance.
The English centre-forward opened the scoring after just seven minutes away at Millwall with a brilliant volley inside the penalty area, but ultimately ended up on the losing side.
The hosts responded through goals from Shane Ferguson and Tom Elliot to give them a 2-1 victory in the Championship clash.
Villa started life without Steve Bruce following his sacking, as Kevin MacDonald filled in as the caretaker manager.
The Midlands giants now have an international break to try get a new man at the helm and get them pushing back towards the promotion spots.
Abraham was one of the few Villa players at the races at the weekend and his goal proved that given the chance he will score a bucket load this season.
But the 21-year-old did at times struggle to hold the ball up against Millwall and ultimately his team are lacking in confidence right now.
A selection of Villa fans on social media still highlighted the positive display from Abraham and feel he can be a real difference this season.
Here is some of the reaction to the striker’s efforts:
Tammy Abraham looks another level when he actually receives the ball in attacking positions… #AVFC
