Paul Dummett was recalled to Newcastle United’s team to face Bournemouth on Saturday and he produced a solid defensive display.
Operating in the left-back position, the Newcastle-born defender was strong in defence and looked comfortable on the ball.
Dummett has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons, preventing him from making that left-back spot his own.
The 27-year-old academy product’s struggles have continued this season, limiting him to just 19 appearances in black and white.

After missing nearly two months at the start of 2019, Dummett has been eased back in by Rafa Benitez over the past few weeks.
The Wales international was handed substitute cameos against Burnley, West Ham and Everton before he was given a starting role yesterday.
And Dummett impressed with one moment in particular standing out. With the scores level at 1-1, Dummett performed an acrobatic overhead kick to clear the ball from the goal-line.
It looked like a certain goal but Dummett somehow hooked it clear with goal-line technology showing that it was inches from crossing the line.
Here are what Newcastle fans made of Dummett’s performance and goal-line clearance.
