Leeds United star Stuart Dallas has expressed his desire to play out the end of the Championship season amid growing rumblings of a potentially cancelled or indeed void campaign.
The Northern Irishman, who has been one of the stars of Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season, was speaking to the Belfast Telegraph this week.

He made it clear that he and the rest of the Leeds United squad were staying fit ahead of a potential return to action. Whilst he acknowledged that playing behind-closed-doors would not be ideal, Dallas was adamant that the season must be finished.
“For me, of course football is nothing without fans. As a football fan I know that. I also know that safety for people is the most important thing but, from a football point of view, I think it is vital that we finish the league.
“That’s why we are staying fit. It is important as a group of players that we stay fit and be ready if football does resume. Ultimately, it comes down to how much we want it. The EFL have said this is our holiday time but we have to stay fit. We are in pole position to be promoted and we cannot let that slip.”
For Leeds, finishing the season could go one way or the other.
Should the Championship get cancelled but settled on a points-per-game type scenario, then Leeds might find themselves promoted to the Premier League without having to kick another ball.
Should the season be voided, then Leeds would be back playing in the Championship next season despite currently sitting in a strong position.
But it is good to hear that Dallas is fired up to get back into action and wants a sporting finish to the current campaign.
Leeds fans will just hope all the hard work of the 2019-20 season does not end up meaningless.
