Stuart Dallas has been quoted by Irish News as saying that Bailey Peacock-Farrell is disappointed at Leeds United after the signing of Kiko Casilla, but has backed the Whites to maintain a promotion charge.

The 27-year-old has finally returned to full fitness at Elland Road after a number of frustrating injuries. The Northern Ireland international has come on as a substitute in each of the last six games.

But Peacock-Farrell, Dallas’ Leeds and Northern Ireland teammate, has failed to turn out for the Whites since January 19, when Leeds lost to Stoke City. The signing of Kiko Casilla has seen Peacock-Farrell warm the bench.

Dallas spoke of how the 22-year-old goalkeeper is disappointed at a lack of game time. He also told media that Leeds will not choke under the pressure of maintaining a promotion race.

“I think for Bailey to progress even more, he needed to play under a goalkeeper like that,” Dallas said. “Obviously he’s disappointed not to be playing, he’s a young kid who played a lot of games. There’s big pressure but he has been fantastic for us.

“Everyone keeps thinking Leeds are going to blow up – but I can assure you we won’t. When you have something to fight for like the Premier League you can’t give up. “We are one of the best, if not the best team in the league.”

TBR’s view

Peacock-Farrell is an excellent goalkeeper but the odd mistake had crept into his form. Casilla has since been magnificent for the Whites, and unfortunately the ex-Middlesbrough academy product must remain patient.

Perhaps, Peacock-Farrell could do with leaving Elland Road in the summer to further his career. Indeed, he has plenty of thinking to do this summer.

Meanwhile, Leeds remain in the think of a promotion hunt. But pressure from fans is more than their rivals. It depends how the Whites can hack the expectation from supporters.
