Aston Villa fell to a poor 3-0 away defeat against Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon and there were a number of poor performers in the visitors team.
The Midlands giants missed the chance to close the gap on the play-offs positions and remain stranded in mid-table.
Dean Smith’s side lacked creativity in the final third and attacker Yannick Bolasie was one of the main culprits for that.
Bolasie has suffered a colossal drop off in the past month and seen his form fall off a cliff.
He’s scored two goals and supplied five assists this season following his arrival on loan from Everton, but hasn’t been directly involved in a goal for five league fixtures.
The 29-year-old winger failed to create any clear goalscoring opportunities away to Wigan and it’s been a very similar story in recent games.
He’s at his best when he’s dribbling at defenders with his pace, but there is a serious question mark over his end product and when he’s not at the races he offers very little to the team.
Bolasie’s loan spell in the Championship should be a chance for him to get back to his best and Villa need him now more than ever to pull his socks up.
Villa face Hull City, Ipswich Town and Reading in the next three games, where Bolasie has to start producing or face losing his spot in the side.
