Everton lost out again this weekend as their excellent start to the season continued to slip off the rails with a loss at Newcastle United.
The Toffees saw a Callum Wilson double prove enough to leave St James’ Park without a point, although Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his fine form with a consolation goal late on.

However, it’s been clear and obvious that without Richarlison and coupled with James Rodriguez not playing, that Everton still lack depth in key attacking areas.
Surely, then, Carlo Ancelotti will be knocking on the door in January and asking for even more backing, despite the club spending big on a number of players over the last few transfer windows.
And one man who Everton could land is former Man United winger, Memphis Depay, who has started the season in fine form for Lyon and was linked (The Sun) in the summer with a move to Goodison.
Much-improved
Most Premier League fans will remember the Depay who struggled at Man United as a younger player. Often erratic and with a few off-field issues, Depay never settled in Manchester.
However, since leaving, he has become a quality player on the European circuit and has become the main man for Lyon in the last few seasons.

Indeed, he’s already netted five times this term, assisting on a further three. That good form follows on from a number of excellent campaigns in recent times. Depay scored 15 times last year, while in the 18/19 campaign, he netted 12 times and contributed 16 assists to the cause.
It goes without saying that this little blip has shown Everton need more in those attacking positions. Anthony Gordon is a young player learning his craft, while Alex Iwobi often flatters to decieve.
Of course, Richarlison and James may well be back soon and the Toffees might start firing again. But with January just around the corner, Depay should surely be on the radar once again given the obvious dip in form for Everton.
