Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been putting his players through their paces ahead of their Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Saturday evening.
The Gunners currently sit top of the table, but with Liverpool kicking off at 12:30pm, they may need to return to the summit depending on how things go earlier in the day.
In addition, Arsenal are up against a Villa outfit that has flown under the radar into title contention. Unai Emery’s charges are currently just four points off the top.
There is optimism around Arsenal at present though. The Gunners have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match and they’ve won their last six in a row in all competitions.
On Friday, the Arsenal media team took to X to share footage of Reiss Nelson scoring a superb backheel goal in training, with the caption “stop that Reiss”.

The 23-year-old latched onto a through-ball and expertly rounded the keeper before bearing down on goal and backheeling the ball into the back of the net from close range.
It’s great to see Nelson looking sharp in training, and hopefully this bodes well for his chances of game time against Villa and beyond.
The ‘electric‘ talent penned a new contract in the summer to 2027 with a further year’s option, which shows that Arteta clearly rates him highly.
Nelson is yet to get an extended run in the first-team this season, with 11 appearances and just two starts in all competitions in 2023-24.
But with impressive displays in training, it’s food for thought for Arteta, who’ll no doubt be looking to get the most out of his team during the busy festive period.
