Stoke fans want Leeds to take Ryan Woods off their hands

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Stoke City midfielder Ryan Woods this summer, if Kalvin Phillips departs for newly-promoted Aston Villa – and Stoke fans have reacted to news by urging Leeds to sign Woods.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (7/7; page 61), Stoke midfielder Woods has been identified by Leeds as a possible replacement for Phillips, who continues to be linked with a big-money move to Villa.

The Whites have already sold Jack Clarke for big money to Tottenham Hotspur while Pontus Jansson is closing in on a £5.5million move to Brentford – with reports claiming the Swede has fallen out with Marcelo Bielsa.

Sky Sports claim Stoke splashed £7million to sign Woods, but the former Brentford midfielder managed just 27 outings for Stoke last season. Following the turn of the year, Woods played just seven of Stoke’s 21 league games.

It has been a difficult season for Woods, then, despite shining for Brentford prior to his move to Stoke. He is renowned for intricate array of passing, and his ability to dictate the tempo of play from the base of the midfield.

Stoke fans reacted to the reported news that Leeds could raid the Potters for midfielder Woods, and main Stoke fans are keen to see the back of Woods and would be willing to see him depart for Leeds.
