Willian is coming to the fore once again for Chelsea

The Brazilian was the club’s player of the year last season and it has been surprising to move to the fringes of the Chelsea side under Antonio Conte. He has the skill-set to succeed in the 3-4-3 formation, but his problem has been that the players preferred to him have been performing well on a weekly basis. That said, he has started in the last two matches and provided influential contributions in both. Against Manchester United, he provided the assist for N’Golo Kante’s winning goal. Meanwhile today, he managed to get on the scoresheet himself, although he was provided with a helping hand from Lee Grant in the Stoke goal.

Antonio Conte has a talented squad to call upon and it is clear that the positive attitude among those outside of the first eleven has been maintained by the Italian. Cesc Fabregas has played his part in recent weeks, while Willian is now the one stepping up to make the most of his opportunity. The Brazilian has a lot of ability and is capable of producing match-winning moments in tight matches. He was a constant threat this afternoon, attempting two shots and completing three key passes. The 28-year-old has a huge part to play as Chelsea look to regain their Premier League crown.
