Paul Gascoigne paid a visit to Rangers training this week and it appears to have caused quite a stir with the players at Ibrox. In fact, it was not just the likes of Jamie Murphy and George Edmundson fangirling over Gazza. Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was clearly over the moon to have met a boyhood hero.
Gascoigne joined Rangers from Lazio in 1995 and became a legend during his three seasons at Ibrox with his thrilling displays alongside Brian Laudrup in Rangers’ attacking midfield.

An England legend, the mercurial talent often made more headlines off the pitch than on it but his natural ability as a player has never been in doubt.
Indeed, Gerrard made that clear to his current Rangers players yesterday. In a video released on the club’s official Twitter account, the Rangers manager is seen bringing Gazza in for a photo with the current Rangers first-team.
At which point, he makes it clear that he nor any of his players are in the same league as Gazza.
“Proper, proper footballer. All of us are not in the same league as this fella.”
TBR’s View
Gerrard’s act of humility around the Rangers legend was justified, although the Liverpool hero might have a case to say he at least matched the ability of the former Ibrox star.
The main hope from a current perspective will be that Gazza’s visit can help inspire some of the Rangers players into a top performance this weekend against Hamilton.
It would certainly be nice to see Gazza smiling at Ibrox later today.
