Steven Gerrard has told Rangers’s official YouTube channel that he was particularly pleased with their 8-0 win at Ibrox on Sunday as he has been annoyed with his side at times this season for not keeping their foot on the gas.
The Gers extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to nine points once again this weekend. It was an outstanding performance from the Light Blues, who have now scored 24 goals in their seven home games in the top flight this term.

It appears that Gerrard would have taken particular satisfaction from seeing his side score four in each half against Hamilton Academical.
The Rangers boss shared that he has been disappointed in the past with seeing his side become too casual when they get into a commanding position. And that is why he was so pleased with Sunday’s result.

“We have done that at times and it’s annoyed me because we’re not in a position or at a stage yet where we can afford to take our foot off the gas,” he told the club’s YouTube channel, when asked about dropping down the gears in the past.
“I want them to be the same all the time, standards all the time on and off the pitch to be top. We’re representing Rangers. Every minute’s important. So I don’t like to see players showing ego or coming off the gas. I want them to be, start to finish, relentless and ruthless and they were today.”
TBR View: Ominous for rivals with Rangers only just reaching top gear
It is ominous for Rangers’s rivals that they appear to have stepped up a gear. They already boasted a remarkable record – particularly at home. As well as scoring 24 league goals, they have conceded none at Ibrox.
They are obviously not going to win 8-0 every week. There are going to be times when Rangers stumble across the line to get three points.
But while they are in such good form, you can understand why Gerrard wants to see his side blow teams away.
On Sunday, he certainly got his wish.
