Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has hinted that the Ryan Kent pursuit could be over, The Daily Record reports. It is no secret that Rangers want to bring Kent back from Liverpool but this looks unlikely now.
With the transfer deadline looming, Rangers are running out of time to re-sign Kent. Liverpool do not want to loan him out again and Rangers will not match the asking price for the winger.
Last season, Kent was a hit during his season-long loan spell in Scotland. The 22-year-old scored six goals and provided nine assists for the Gers. This included a goal in the Old Firm derby clash with Celtic.

Kent featured for Jurgen Klopp’s side in pre-season after returning from Rangers. But he is not in the first-team plans and he has not been playing U23 matches either. Kent has made it clear that he wants the move but this could fall through.
Gerrard said (via The Daily Record): “Liverpool’s stance on the Ryan Kent situation stays the same, we move on and we look forward. Everyone knows my thoughts on Ryan as a player. Nothing changes in terms of our recruitment, if a player becomes available we will be interested.”
TBR’s view
It seems unfair that Liverpool are holding Kent to ransom. At the age of 22, he wants to get out and play regular football. By demanding an extortionate price, Liverpool are preventing Kent from launching his career elsewhere.
Rangers seems the perfect environment for the Englishman. He is familiar with the club and Gerrard’s style and the fans already love him.
