Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has provided an injury update on four of his Ibrox stars ahead of this weekend’s game.
The Light Blues boss offered positive updates on two players, whilst it wasn’t quite as positive for another couple.
Kemar Roofe was withdrawn at half-time during last weekend’s 1-0 win over Celtic.
Gerrard has now confirmed that the striker could now be missing for a few games with his knock.
Likewise, George Edmundson is facing a spell on the sidelines too.
The centre-back is yet to feature domestically this season and the boss has said he will see a specialist regarding his troublesome hip.
There is, however, some positive news regarding two other players.
Jordan Jones, despite nursing a sort calf is set to return to training next week.
The Northern Ireland international had looked in decent shape earlier in the campaign, with the 26-year-old netting against Motherwell.
His return could be a timely boost to bolster the Rangers attacking options.
Elsewhere, Gerrard also suggested a positive update on defender Nikola Katic.
He claims the £2 million central defender is progressing each week and his return would be ideal.
The 24-year-old is yet to play this season and endured a stop-start campaign during 2019/20 too.
Having Katic back in contention would certainly provide some solid competition at the heart of the defence.
TBR View: Gerrard will want to avoid any more casualties
Rangers do have a nice lead at the summit of the Scottish Premiership but Gerrard won’t be happy with the Roofe blow.
He has been a first-team regular this season and it means Alfredo Morelos will need to step up.
Elsewhere, it’d be nice to have Katic back but it’s likely he will only provide competition.
Edmundson isn’t really in favour at the moment and remains one for the future.
Roofe aside, Gerrard has been quite fortunate with his injuries this season and he’ll hope he doesn’t lose any more top stars.
