Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes his former side have the edge over Tottenham in goal ahead of the Champions League final.
The Reds face Spurs in Madrid on Saturday in the European final, which comes just days after Chelsea beat Arsenal in the Europa League final.
Liverpool are likely to start with their number one Alisson Becker in net, who has been a revelation during his first season at Anfield.
The Brazil international has kept a stunning 26 clean sheets in 50 games across all competitions.
Meanwhile, his Spurs counterpart is France international Hugo Lloris and he’s also considered one of the best shot-stoppers in the world.
He’s kept 16 clean sheets in 43 games for Spurs and is the captain of the North London club.
Gerrard has claimed in the build-up to the final that it’s Alisson that has the edge over Lloris.
“I think in these games you have to look at the goalkeeping situation,” Gerrard told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I think goalkeepers are just as important as these front men and I do see Liverpool just edge the goalkeeping department and I think that’s what it could boil down. It’s so tight when you talk about the outfield players.”
Alisson has certainly had the better individual season when comparing the two goalkeepers and is turning into one of the best in the business.
He is such a consistent performer in goal, while Spurs’ number one is prone to errors.
But Lloris has played and won a World Cup final before to highlight his big-game experience, while this will be the biggest match of Alisson’s career.
There is going to be pressure on the pair and both will be hoping to avoid a similar display to Loris Karius in last season’s final against Real Madrid.
