Despite a mixed first season at Ibrox last year, Rangers defender Borna Barisic has turned out to be a masterstroke signing by the Scottish giants.
Steven Gerrard signed the left-back in the 2018 summer transfer window when he first arrived with the Gers and helped complete an overhaul of the squad.
The Light Blues spent £2.2million (BBC) on the Croatia international from Osijek and it’s clear now that he was a serious bargain.
Gerrard has decided to stick by the full-back and that came after a first season that was disrupted by injuries and mixed form.
But the 27-year-old is now an ever-present in the starting XI and played a crucial role in the team’s success so far, as they are firmly in the league title race and in the Europa League knockout rounds.
Barisic is most recognised for his superb delivery into the box and the attacking input he gives is superb.
The left-back has already supplied a staggering 14 assists in 28 games across all competitions so far this season.
He is an attack-minded player at heart that is given the freedom to push forward, but has shown particular in the European fixtures that he’s capable with his back to goal too and can stand strong defensively.
His valuation now has surely at least quadrupled since his move to Rangers and he appears to be someone that keeps thriving under Gerrard.
