Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that the Scottish club have rejected a bid from Leeds United for their attacker Ryan Kent and has warned them to have a “hard think” about a second offer.
The Sun claimed earlier this week that newly-promoted Leeds were making a £10million bid for Kent following their return to the Premier League and their manager Marcelo Bielsa picked him out as a target to try bring to Elland Road.
Gerrard confirmed on Friday that Rangers have received an offer from Leeds, albeit the transfer sum is not specified.
The Gers manager made it clear that the opening bid made for the 23-year-old fell well short of his valuation and it was turned down immediately, plus he stressed how highly-rated he is at Ibrox.
TBR’s View:
Kent is a highly-rated attacker that has grown as a player during his time in Scottish football and he’s started the new season in decent form with two goals in the opening four league games.
He is a left-winger with plenty of pace, trickery and threat in the final third, something that has seen him become a mainstay in Gerrard’s XI.
It makes sense for Rangers to try keep their wide player and at the very least drive a hard bargain for him, while for Leeds they desperately need to try get some more bodies through the door before the Premier League starts on September 12.
