Steven Gerrard and others heap Instagram praise on Liverpool man after England beat Germany at Euro 2020
Jordan Henderson only played for the last few moments as England knocked Germany out of Euro 2020. But the Liverpool skipper has earned plenty of praise on Instagram, as England progressed into the quarter-finals. Steven Gerrard praised Henderson, after the Euro 2020 win.
Raheem Sterling made it three goals in four Euro 2020 outings, before Harry Kane broke his duck at this summer’s tournament to win 2-0. England saw out a nervy first 45 minutes before dominating the second half. Thomas Muller had a golden chance, but missed the target.
England face Ukraine in the quarter-finals after their extra-time win over 10-man Sweden, and Henderson posted his delight on Instagram. While he only managed to get a few minutes as he replaced Rice, he clearly remains a crucial part of the side. He posted on Instagram after the match.
Euro 2020: Gerrard sends message to Liverpool man Henderson
Coming into the tournament, many were sceptical over the usage of two holding midfielders in Rice and Kalvin Phillips. While the West Ham and Leeds stars have been excellent for their clubs, they are both inexperienced at England level. But the duo have arguably been England’s best.
While many thought Henderson should be starting despite his injury issues, he will now surely find it impossible to get into the starting line-up. Phillips and Rice remain first choice. But Henderson still got plenty of praise on Instagram, including from Gerrard and Adam Lallana.
