Rangers have confirmed their second summer signing in the form of 16-year-old Charlie Lindsay from Northern Irish side Glentoran – and both Steven Davis and plenty of Rangers supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Lindsay, 16, has been handed professional terms by Rangers after impressing for the club’s Under-17 side during the recent Alkass Tournament earlier this year. An attacking midfielder, he has already been called up by Northern Ireland’s Under-17’s.
Boasting the record for Glentoran’s youngest ever senior player – after making his debut for Glentoran in a 3-1 win over Ballyclare Comrades back in September 2019. Lindsay was born in March 2004.
Rangers announced the signing of the wonderkid on Twitter, which is the club’s second summer signing after a permanent deal for Ianis Hagi was previously agreed last month – following an impressive loan spell at Ibrox from Genk.
Lindsay is expected to link up with the Under-18 and reserve sides with a view to breaking into Steven Gerrard’s senior side over the next couple of seasons. The likes of Hagi, Ryan Kent and plenty of others will be ahead of Lindsay in the pecking order.
Another ahead of him in the pecking order is veteran Rangers midfielder Steven Davis – who is likely to be an idol for Lindsay, after clocking up an enormous 117 Northern Ireland caps. Davis reacted on Twitter, as did other Rangers fans.
