Steven Bergwijn has posted on Instagram for the first time as a Tottenham Hotspur player after the Dutch flyer was confirmed as having joined Spurs on Wednesday morning – and Chelsea and Manchester City players have responded to his post.
Bergwijn, 22, is believed to have joined Spurs for £27million from PSV Eindhoven – the same fee Tottenham paid Real Betis to complete Giovani Lo Celso’s permanent deal. The Netherlands international has already started training.
He becomes Tottenham’s third January signing, after the deal to sign Lo Celso beyond the summer and an 18-month loan for Gedson Fernandes from Benfica. Bergwijn will be available for Tottenham’s Sunday clash against Manchester City.
The former PSV star posted on Instagram some pictures from his first Tottenham training session, which saw him don the purple Spurs training gear. He captioned the post “First session”.

It is believed Bergwijn is expected to rival the likes of Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min, Erik Lamela and Dele Alli for a place in the side. He is naturally a winger, but can also play up front. He has signed a contract until the summer of 2025.
Plenty of players – past teammates and Netherlands players – reacted to Bergwijn’s Instagram, congratulating him on a move to the north London club. Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko and Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham also commented.
