Tottenham’s new hero Steven Bergwijn posted a message on Instagram assessing his dream debut at his new club from the weekend.
The 22-year-old attacker scored the only goal in a 1-0 home victory against Manchester City in the Premier League, as he quickly made himself a big favourite with supporters.
He arrived late in the January transfer window from PSV Eindhoven and Spurs boss Jose Mourinho decided to throw him straight into the starting XI on Sunday.
The Dutch left-winger smashed in a volley after cushioning the ball down and it looks like he will help add more firepower in the final third.
Bergwijn posted a message on social media late on Monday night where he struggled to describe his emotion from a goalscoring debut, but it looks like he may have a big future in North London.
“Probably the moment where the golden cockerel caught my attention.. What a stadium. Can’t wait to score more goals and see the crowd go crazy like yesterday. Indescribable feeling. Blessed #HungryForMore #coys” Bergwijn wrote on his official Instagram account.
Bergwijn will be on cloud nine after his immediate impact in the Spurs team and the early goal will relieve any pressure off him about his switch to the Premier League.
The rapid wide player will have seen several stars struggle with the move from the Eredivisie to English football, but he really does look a star in the making and he needs to try keep up his momentum.
He was in dazzling form for PSV before his mid-season transfer and Spurs desperately need his goal output while star centre-forward Harry Kane is sidelined through injury.
