Liverpool have raced off the blocks in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign and have already made a massive impression under new manager Arne Slot.
It looked like there could be a bit of a transition at Anfield after Jurgen Klopp’s departure, but the Reds have secured three wins from three and are the only team in the Premier League yet to concede a goal.
Slot has already imprinted his philosophy at the club and the Liverpool players seem to be reacting well to his methods.
There have been suggestions that Liverpool could give Arsenal and Manchester City a run for their money in the Premier League title race this season.
However, Steve Nicol believes it’s soon to be talking about the Reds going all the way despite their strong start to the season.
Steve Nicol plays down claims that Liverpool could compete for the Premier League title

While the Reds icon admitted his surprise at Liverpool’s flawless transition after Klopp’s departure, he believes Arsenal and Manchester City have a better chance of going all the way this season.
“I’m a little surprised I’ve got to say,” said Nicol on ESPN FC’s YouTube channel.
“I didn’t think they’d be quite as smooth but apart from the first half against Ipswich Town, they’ve been really smooth.
“It’s a little early to say they could be competing for the title – it’s between City and Arsenal. These three teams are clear of the rest.”
Nicol, however, tipped Liverpool to comfortably finish in the Premier League top four.
He continued: “But Liverpool are looking good and everyone thinks they are going to compete, but I’m not ready to have them as title contenders. No question for top four, though. I think it’ll be quite comfortable.”
What next for Liverpool after strong start
Liverpool are set to host Nottingham Forest at Anfield in their next Premier League encounter and will look to make it four wins from four on Saturday.
Slot has already got his team playing exciting football and another win could cause a great deal of excitement among the Anfield faithful.
Mohamed Salah believes Slot’s brand of football is more controlled than Klopp’s, which indicates that the players have liked what they’ve seen of the new manager so far.
Slot has been branded as a ‘tactically obsessed’ coach by his former coaching staff at Feyenoord.
The Dutchman’s methods and attention to detail could play a huge role if Liverpool are to compete for the Premier League title this season.
