Former West Ham United midfielder Steve Lomas reckons his old club have what it takes to eventually push into the top six.
The Londoners have had a turbulent season so far, but have shown signs of real progression under Manuel Pellegrini.

The club sit 10th in the table after 27 games and will be hoping to finish in the top half come May.
They will take real heart from the fact that they are only four points behind Watford, who are currently sitting in seventh as the ‘best of the rest’.
‘The board and the chairman have finally realised’
Former Northern Ireland international Lomas has been impressed with his old club under Pellegrini’s guidance, and also likes the changes he has seen from the top.
He told talkSPORT, quoted by football.london: “It seems to be going in the right direction, I think we’re still recovering from when we moved [into the London Stadium]. The first three transfer windows, we were shopping in poundland.

“I think the board and the chairman have finally realised you’ve got to pay decent money even to stay in the Premier League, never mind trying to push on and finish in that top seven, eight. I think they can be a top six club.”
West Ham dropped over £100 million last summer on new players, with most faring well in their season at the club.

Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski, Fabian Balbuena and Felipe Anderson in particular have all improved the team.
West Ham will not be breaking into the top six this season, but if they continue to show their ambitious side in the coming transfer markets, then Lomas’ prediction could well ring true.
