Steve Cook had an afternoon to forget this weekend when Liverpool ran out 4-0 winners against Bournemouth.
Cook scored an own goal and was unable to contain Mo Salah, who scored a hat-trick in this game.
The 27-year-old could not sort his feet out as he diverted the ball into the net in bizarre fashion.
And this was after Salah ran rings around him, capitalising on Cook’s sloppy defending.
It was not the first time the former Brighton defender has been criticised by Bournemouth fans this season.
Cook usually plays alongside Nathan Ake, but despite Bournemouth’s success, the 6ft 1in centre-back’s form has been patchy.
Everton have held a longstanding interest in Cook, dating back to April 2017, according to The Sun.
That summer, the Toffees decided to pursue Michael Keane instead and then they bought Yerry Mina from Barcelona and loaned in Kurt Zouma in summer 2018.
And with Cook struggling and Everton’s defence thriving, it appears that they dodged a bullet with this transfer deal.
Keane, Mina and Zouma are all in good form and Marco Silva’s selection dilemma centres on fitting them all into the same team.
But Cook may have struggled to settle in at Everton, judging by this season’s form.
