Newcastle United have an incredibly bright future now their long-awaited takeover has finally been completed.
The Mike Ashley era may have seen the club run well from a financial perspective, which is of benefit to the new owners now, but from a footballing point of view, it was dire.
Not that long ago, Newcastle were once a thrilling, swashbuckling side competing for the title and cups, and playing in the Champions League.

But for over a decade, the Magpies have been a shadow of themselves, resigned to relegation scraps and having to endure two stints in the Championship.
All that is likely to change in the coming years – but in the short-term, Newcastle are still very much in a relegation scrap and must put it right immediately.
Luckily for Steve Bruce, Callum Wilson is back.
The 29-year-old had been sidelined since August with a hamstring injury.
Wilson began the season in great form, scoring in the 4-2 loss to West Ham and the 2-2 draw with Southampton.
Therefore, his injury came at a bad time for Newcastle, who are yet to win this season.

Newcastle ace can “wreak havoc”
But now Wilson is back, Bruce must – and probably will – start him against Spurs at St James’ Park on Sunday.
Martin Keown is convinced Wilson could be a game-changer for the Tyneside outfit against the north Londoners.
“The inclusion of Callum Wilson, if fit enough to feature, will be a major boost,” he wrote in the Daily Mail on Friday.
“He, more than anyone, will benefit from Saint-Maximin’s twisting and turning and creativity.
“Wilson has that predatory instinct and is a proper No 9 who can wreak havoc with Tottenham’s defence.”
St James’ Park will be bouncing on Sunday and the “electric” Wilson will hopefully provide the spark for a winning start to life under the new ownership.
